Hey Loves! Happy Easter 2019! I wanted to share my family recipe for our butter cookies aka cutout cookies, and how to make these adorable Peeps inspired bunny cutout cookies for Easter. Landon and Presley loved helping me with this recipe, so it’s definitely kid-friendly to make and decorate, and a way to make special memories with your kids in the kitchen.
Here’s my tutorial so you can see how I make these cookies with my kids!
Here’s the recipe for the butter cookies:
DIRECTIONS: Cream everything together but the flour. Mix in flour last. Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Roll out on lightly floured surface. Dip your Peeps bunny cookie cutter in flour before cutting the dough. Tip from my mom: Roll dough to medium thickness so they are chewy- too thin they will break easily. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Let cool completely. Frost with sugar cookie icing that harden (see recipe below) and add sprinkles immediately for the Peeps effect!
Here are the links to all of my baking supplies to make these cookies:
Here’s the recipe for the sugar cookie icing that hardens:
DIRECTIONS: Sift powdered sugar. Then add wet ingredients right before you are about to ice cookies when they are completely cooled. Whisk together. Use bbq sauce brushes to paint on icing. Immediately add sprinkles for the Peeps effect. OPTIONAL: add 3 dots of chocolate icing for the eyes and noses of the Peeps bunnies.
Thanks so much for reading this blog post. Hope you enjoy baking these cookies as much as we did! Please make sure you sign up for my weekly newsletter on the sidebar so we can keep in touch.
Have a blessed Easter! He is Risen!
